Only Fon accounts can be used by pass customers on the Fon network, and only Vodafone WiFi accounts can be used by pass customers on the Vodafone WiFi network (Italy), in other words: if you created an account e.g. in Italy (Vodafone network: through a Vodafone-WiFi hotspot), you wouldn't be able to use it in the UK (Fon network), and vice versa.
I joined bt unlimited fibre yesterday and waiting for my router to get here but in the mean time i log in to a bt wifi with fon using my account details. But iirc, a FON user owning their own FON branded router could access BT FON Hotspots in commercial premises (ie coffee shops etc), and had to by a voucher to use a residential BT FON Hotspot (beaming out of our own home hubs, swamping our own WiFi). BT customers, whom either opted in or were opted in without their knowledge (another story for When I used bt I gave mine out no bother.
